Film Maker and Kathak dancer Aarushi Nishank from Uttarakhand has been listed in the Forbes Middle East List. She is the first woman from Uttarakhand and one of the rarest women from India to feature on the list. Her contribution to social work and women empowerment has been the reason for her presence on the list.
The list applauded her IWUEF International Women Programme about girl power. Her influence has been phenomenal in the field.
She has also received a lot of other internationally acclaimed awards and accomplishments. Aarushi is a Kathak student of Birju Maharaj. Having a specialization of 8 years in Kathak dance she has a certification of Nishant.
On the environment front, she is a part of Namami Gange – National Mission for Clean Ganga project under the central government. Also, she has been involved in organizing the Sparsh Ganga Abhiyan. She is also a poet and entrepreneur.
Born in Kotdwar in 1986, the internationally renowned dancer has appeared on Doordarshan. She is the daughter of Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishant, former chief minister of Uttarakhand. Her education background includes a bachelor’s degree in political science from Bhansali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan. Later she pursued her business studies abroad from the Metropolitan College of Toronto. At present, she is pursuing her doctorate in India. And she heads the Himalayan Ayurvedic Medical College, Dehradun.
