As the calendar turned for the last time wrapping up 2017, Nainital girl won Miss India Khadi. The new year got a great start for Uttarakhand with the announcement of the results. A driver’s daughter Khushboo Rawat from Nainital won the crown and proved that Uttarakhand girls have a lot more in store. Khadi and village industries commission organised the pageant to promote Khadi products and clothing. In times of acute environmental distress, a move in the direction without compromising on the trendiness was essential.
Khushboo Rawat is a student at Northen India Institute of Fashion Technology, Chandigarh. She is primarily from Bhikiyasain, Bangarh from Almora district. Her father is an employee of Vikas Bhavan, serving as state transport driver. She was a student of Mohan Lal Shah Bal Vidya Mandir from class 1st to 12th. After that, she enrolled in Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology, Chandigarh. She dedicated her success to the efforts of her teachers and mentors from Uttarakhand and Nainital.
The auditions for Miss India Khadi were open for students from every part of the nation. They were held in Delhi and saw participants flooding in from countless colleges and universities. Innumerable willing participants gave auditions and finally, Khushboo won the crown after qualifying all rounds. Over 50,000 students participated in the mega fashion competition. Ghurleen Madhok from Muhali, Chandigarh came to the first runner-up in the competition. Yukti Chugh from Madhya Pradesh came second runner-up of Miss India Khadi 2017. Khushboo’s parents had tears of joy when they saw their daughter being crowned with the honoured title.
Khushboo says that she will be promoting Khadi as long as she can because it is an integral part of our country’s heritage. She also acknowledged her homeland’s influence as the reason for her success. Along with that, she was very grateful for her parents’ efforts.
